Movie producer extradited to California, faces sexual assault charges

Harvey Weinstein, a disgraced movie producer and convicted rapist, has been extradited to California and will face additional sex crimes charges.

Weinstein was already serving a 23-year jail sentence in Upstate New York when he was handed over to California officials early Tuesday morning, according to the Department of Corrections.

The decision comes after a protracted legal battle and opens the way for a new trial in Los Angeles.

Prosecutors claim Weinstein sexually abused five women in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills between 2004 and 2013.
