Police Chase Follows Shoplifting Incident in Chesterfield County

Richmond, VA – A shoplifting spree in Chesterfield County escalated into a police chase over the weekend before Christmas, resulting in the recovery of thousands of dollars’ worth of stolen merchandise, which authorities say could have been potential holiday gifts.

According to the Chesterfield County Police Department, the suspects stole from two separate stores in quick succession. Police say the suspects filled shopping carts with items and loaded them into the back of a truck before fleeing the scene. The thefts reportedly occurred within minutes of each other, sparking an immediate response from law enforcement.

The police were able to track down the suspects’ vehicle, which was spotted traveling on Interstate 95. A pursuit ensued, and the suspects’ truck was eventually stopped using a rolling roadblock technique, a tactic employed to safely bring the high-speed chase to an end.

Though law enforcement officials joked on social media, saying they “didn’t save Christmas,” they expressed relief that the stolen items were recovered in time for local residents’ last-minute shopping.

The police department has not disclosed the number of suspects involved, nor have they provided details on any charges. The department also did not clarify the specific locations and times of the incidents. Inquiries are still pending, as police continue to investigate the case.
