Multiple Injuries in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-95 North in Prince George County

Richmond, VA — A multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 North in Prince George County on Monday evening left multiple individuals injured and caused significant traffic disruptions. The incident, which occurred just south of Butler Branch Road, involved at least five vehicles and prompted a large response from emergency personnel.

Virginia State Police (VSP) confirmed that several people were injured in the crash, though the exact number of victims has not yet been confirmed. Authorities reported that the injuries are serious but not life-threatening. The injured parties were transported to a local hospital, and while their conditions are being closely monitored, officials believe that all involved are expected to recover.

At the time of reporting, the northbound lanes of I-95 were still closed as state troopers and first responders worked to clear the wreckage and investigate the cause of the crash. Traffic was backed up for approximately a mile, with drivers advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.

The southbound left lane, which had been temporarily closed to assist with emergency response efforts, has since reopened. However, the northbound lanes remain shut, and it is unclear when they will be reopened.

A spokesperson for Virginia State Police stated that both VSP and the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) are working together to resolve the situation and restore normal traffic flow. The spokesperson also noted that the crash scene is still under investigation and additional details will be provided as they become available.

Motorists are urged to use caution when approaching the area and to expect significant delays. Detours are in place, but the ongoing road closures are expected to cause prolonged traffic congestion.

As of now, authorities have not released further details about the cause of the crash, and the investigation is ongoing.
