Richmond RCMP Respond to Knife Incident Near Lansdowne Station

Richmond, VA – Richmond RCMP officers responded to a tense situation on Sunday, December 1, after receiving reports of a man carrying a knife near Lansdowne Canada Line Station.

At approximately 4:10 p.m., officers were called to the 5400 block of No. 3 Road, where witnesses reported the man exiting a train, falling down an escalator, and allegedly dropping a firearm. The weapon, later confirmed to be an airsoft gun, raised immediate concern, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.

According to authorities, the man was also seen chasing a woman. Police quickly arrived on the scene, and after a brief foot pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

The man was arrested and is facing charges of assault with a weapon. Richmond RCMP confirmed that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.

“We acknowledge the concern this incident may have caused in our community,” said Insp. Mike Roberts, operations officer with Richmond RCMP. “Our officers responded swiftly and were able to resolve the situation without anyone getting hurt. We thank the public for their assistance in reporting the incident.”
