Richmond RCMP Respond to Knife Incident Near Lansdowne Station

Richmond, VA – Richmond RCMP officers responded swiftly to reports of a man carrying a knife near a busy train station on Sunday, Dec. 1, around 4:10 p.m. The incident unfolded in the 5400 block of No. 3 Road, near the Canada Line Lansdowne Station.

According to RCMP, the man was seen exiting a train when he reportedly lost his balance and fell down an escalator. Witnesses also reported that the individual dropped what appeared to be a firearm, which was later identified as an airsoft gun.

In addition to the firearm incident, witnesses claimed the man was chasing a woman, though no injuries were reported. Officers arrived on the scene shortly after receiving the call and quickly engaged in a foot pursuit. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

No injuries to civilians or law enforcement were reported, and the investigation is ongoing. The suspect has been arrested on charges of assault with a weapon.

“We acknowledge the concern this incident may have caused in our community,” said Richmond RCMP Operations Officer, Insp. Mike Roberts. “Our officers acted quickly to address the situation, and we thank the public for their assistance in reporting the incident.”
