Virginia Department of Transportation crews will replace nine drainage pipes at various locations underneath Route 616 in Stafford County during March, ensuring new pipes are in place before the road is repaved between Branch Creek Way and Tacketts Mill Road

Richmond, VA – According to the state officials, to install the pipes, Poplar Road will close to through traffic overnight on Sunday-Thursday evenings between Sunday, March 3, and the morning of Friday, March 15.

The road will close at 8 p.m. and reopen by 6 a.m. on dates when work is scheduled.

Signs will guide motorists along the recommended detour route.

Crews will work at multiple locations during the two-week maintenance project.

First, crews will close Poplar Road to through traffic overnight between Route 627 and Route 648.

When work is underway at this location, the recommended detour route will be:

  • Mountain View Road
  • Stefaniga Road

Poplar Road will be closed to through traffic overnight near the end of the two-week project between Mountain View Road and Route 646 (Tacketts Mill Road). During these dates, the recommended detour route will be:

  • Route 612 (Hartwood Road)
  • Route 662 (Stoney Hill Road)

Access to residential driveways along the closed sections of Poplar Road will be maintained at all times.
