Virginia Department of Transportation crews began pre-treating interstates, primary, and major secondary roadways this morning across the Culpeper District and will continue throughout the day

Richmond, VA – According to the state officials, forecasts are calling for the wintry weather to start in the western and northern parts of the district first, including the high elevations of Albemarle, Rappahannock and Fauquier counties.

Other areas may see a wintry mix of flurries, sleet, and freezing rain. Ice is likely to form first in areas where pavement temperatures are lowest.

VDOT and contract crews will mobilize early Saturday morning to clear roadways of snow and ice and will remain on duty Saturday night for roadway re-freezing into Sunday morning.

These spots include bridges, overpasses, ramps, and intersections.

Remember to check conditions along your entire travel route as conditions may change farther north and west.
