West Fargo, ND – One of the most important West Fargo Fire Department employees is getting re-certify in detecting arson in the city.

K9 Mika went through the ringer Tuesday getting retested in her first annual accelerant detection certification.

Due to COVID-19, Main Specialty Dogs did the testing virtually with handler John Need, a Fire Marshall with the department.

K9 Mika ran through multiple drills, including scent discrimination and room sniffs for accelerant evidence during the recertification.

Since August 2020, both Neeb and Mika responded to 32 calls.
