The Native American Commission seeks nominations for Gladys Ray Indigenous Peoples Day Award

Fargo, North Dakota – Individuals who have made remarkable achievements to the Indigenous Peoples of Fargo should be nominated for the Gladys Ray Indigenous Peoples Day Award by the Fargo Native American Commission. On Monday, October 9, the award will be formally acknowledged on Indigenous Peoples Day.

On Friday, September 22, nomination forms must be returned.

Gladys Shingobe Ray inspired the creation of the Gladys Ray Award. She was a devoted human rights activist and volunteer who served her community by joining numerous organizations and helping to create numerous programs, according to her family. She stood out for everyone, but especially for children, American Indians, and the homeless. She helped numerous people and various projects by acting as a mentor and counselor. Gladys was committed to showing her family, friends, and everyone she knew her love, strength, and guidance.

The Gladys Ray Award nomination form must be fully completed and sent via email to Planning@FargoND.gov by September 22 or in hard copy to The City of Fargo Planning Department (225 4th St. N., Fargo, ND 58102). Call 701.241.1474 if you want further details.

The Fargo Native American Commission’s goal is to improve the Native American community via collaborative efforts in order to advance respect for Native American cultures and the overall well-being of the community. The Native American Commission holds meetings every other month on the first Thursday at noon in the City Commission Rooms of City Hall, located at 225 4th St. N. At every meeting, there is time for audience feedback.
