Fargo, North Dakota – The Great Plains Food Bank received $69,488 from the Check Out Hunger initiative this year.
For the past 30 years, Hornbacher’s has held a fundraiser in July at its locations in Fargo, Moorhead, and West Fargo. More than $895,00 has been raised for the cause since the program’s inception in 1994.
At the checkout counter, shoppers are invited to make a donation of $1, $3, or $5.
“We all have a stake in our community,” Hornbacher’s President Matt Leiseth said. “Our customers care about their neighbors, and they are proving once again that the people of the Fargo-Moorhead area will take care of each other and reach out to support one another. Hornbacher’s is proud to partner with the Great Plains Food Bank and help support the great work they do for our community every day.”
With its Feed Hope initiative, Hornbacher’s runs a similar program during the winter. Additionally, each year they give the Great Plains Food Bank around 900,000 pounds of food.
