Brainerd issues boil order due to discovery of potentially dangerous bacteria

Brainerd, North Dakota – Officials in Brainerd are recommending the public to boil their water before using or drinking it.

According to Brainerd Public Utilities, the construction that took place on July 27 has made the water completely contaminated with coliform bacteria.

The bacterium can present a particular health danger to young children, babies, some elderly individuals, and those with impaired immune systems.

Authorities strongly advise against using unboiled tap water for drinking, cooking, or tooth brushing. A secure substitute is to use bottled water. Before drinking, water should be allowed to cool for at least one minute after boiling for a minimum of one minute.

According to officials, a solution should be found by August 14th.
