Head of parent group criticizes Fargo Public Schools’ stance on the new state transgender law

Fargo, North Dakota – The leader of a local parent organization has denounced Fargo Public Schools’ declaration that it will not abide by new state regulations pertaining to transgender children.

“If there is any adult that is putting themselves between a child and their parent in order to facilitate secret keeping from the parent in order to hide information from the parent, that person is a predator,” said Cassie Schmidt, founder of “Let Parents Decide That”.

Superintendent Dr. Rupak Gandhi has stated that the district will not follow a state rule that forbids teachers and administrators from keeping parents in the dark about how a child identifies while on campus.

In a prior statement, Dr. Gandhi stated the district’s position on the bill and expressed his concern that transgender kids would suffer harm as a result of it.
