Minot, North Dakota – Three junctions are having their traffic signals changed by the city of Minot’s traffic engineer, which should increase safety and enhance traffic flow.
According to Stephen Joersz, the city will install a new traffic signal cabinet at South Broadway and 16th Avenue so that the signals will respond to the flow of traffic rather than operate on timers. This could result in fewer cars waiting at red lights.
Left turn arrows are now timed differently for overnight, morning, and lunchtime on East Burdick Expressway and Valley Street.
In order to prevent left-turning vehicles from turning at the same moment, eastbound left-turners and eastbound traffic will turn at the same time on South Broadway and 37th Avenue. The brand-new traffic signal cabinets will shortly be operational.
