Grand Forks police issued alert about dangerous illegal drug

Grand Forks, North Dakota – The Grand Forks Police Department is issuing an alert to the public about a dangerous illegal drug that is prevalent.

On Saturday evening, officers responded to a number of narcotics-related drug overdoses, one of which resulted in death. Police assumes people were overdosed with heroin, requiring emergency medical attention.

Overdoses of narcotic drugs are on the rise in Grand Forks. Police reported 37 suspected overdoses and three opioid overdose deaths in the first seven months of 2021.

This year, the police have used naloxone 19 times, and the fire department has used it eight times.
