Michigan football’s Week 9 matchup set

This is probably not the matchup Michigan was hoping for in Big Ten Champions Week — nor is it an even match at the moment.

The Big Ten announced matchups for Week 9 to go along with the championship game between Ohio State and Northwestern in Indianapolis, and the Wolverines are set to face off against a red hot Iowa team that just took down Wisconsin in Week 8. The Hawkeyes are 6-2 on the season and ranked No. 17 in the Amway Coaches Poll.

The maize and blue, should it be beyond their COVID-19 issues, will travel to Kinnick Stadium to take on Iowa at night on Saturday, Dec. 19. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.

Michigan is 2-4 after the regular season and gets arguably the toughest crossover matchup, with Iowa having won six straight after having lost its first two games by a combined five points.
