A Fargo man who was shot by police in 2015 is facing three years of probation on Burleigh County drug charges.

Karmen Redshirt was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty to the felony charges dating back to 2019.

Redshirt pointed a laser-sighted BB gun at a Fargo officer after a car chase in September 2015 and was shot in the abdomen.

He later told a judge that the incident changed his life for the better.

He has struggled with run-ins with the law, serving a second prison sentence for a parole violation after his release in January 2019.
