RICHMOND, Va. — The Richmond Fire Department is recognizing Battalion Chief Jamie Potter for her performance at a recent Firefighter Challenge competition.
Officials said the event simulates real-life fireground tasks, including climbing multiple flights of stairs in full gear, hose drags, and rescue carries.
Potter earned first place in the relay team event and first place individually in the 40–45 age division, where she also set a Virginia state record.
She also placed third in the tandem event as part of the only all-female team competing in a coed division.
In a statement, Potter credited her accomplishments to support from her department, as well as time spent training with encouragement from family and friends.
The department said Potter will continue training as she prepares for the World Championship competition later this year.
