High-Speed Chase on I-95 in Chesterfield Ends in Crash, Woman Arrested

Chesterfield County, Va. — A 25-year-old woman from New York was arrested Thursday afternoon following a high-speed chase on Interstate 95 that resulted in a crash and multiple lane closures.

According to Virginia State Police, the incident began shortly after 1 p.m. on June 5, when troopers attempted to stop a vehicle traveling 89 mph in a 60 mph zone on northbound I-95 near W. Hundred Road.

The driver failed to comply and fled at a high rate of speed, prompting a pursuit. During the chase, the fleeing vehicle collided with a minivan, which then struck a concrete barrier separating lanes.

The suspect continued northbound before ultimately crashing near Coxendale Road. After resisting arrest at the scene, troopers took the woman into custody.

Both the suspect and the minivan driver were transported to local hospitals for treatment of injuries reported as non-life-threatening.

The crash caused the closure of the left and center lanes of I-95 near Route 288, leading to traffic delays extending approximately three miles, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

State police continue to investigate the incident.
