Man Killed in Hit-and-Run on Hull Street Road in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va.  — A Richmond man was killed Monday night in a hit-and-run crash on Hull Street Road, according to the Richmond Police Department.

Police identified the victim as 54-year-old Rogelio Garcia. Officers were called to the 5200 block of Hull Street Road at approximately 9:23 p.m. on May 26 for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

When officers arrived, they found Garcia lying in the roadway. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

An initial investigation by the Richmond Police Crash Team revealed that Garcia had been crossing Hull Street Road outside of a designated crosswalk in the northbound lanes when he was struck by a vehicle traveling west. The driver of that vehicle fled the scene before police arrived.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident. Police are urging anyone with information about the crash to contact Crash Team Investigator D. Peppel at (804) 646-1042.
