Tappahannock Woman Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash in Henrico County

Henrico County, Va. — A 41-year-old woman from Tappahannock was killed early Saturday morning in a tragic crash along Mechanicsville Turnpike, authorities report.

The incident occurred around 2:20 a.m. on May 3, when Henrico County Police responded to reports of a single-vehicle collision near the border of Hanover County. Upon arrival, officers discovered a vehicle in the westbound lanes of the Turnpike, having crossed into oncoming traffic. With assistance from deputies in Hanover County, officers were able to remove the driver from the vehicle. The woman, later identified as Morishia Vershonda Robinson, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Initial investigations indicate that Robinson was driving eastbound on Mechanicsville Turnpike when her vehicle struck a guardrail on the right side of the road. The impact caused her car to veer left, crossing the median and ultimately colliding with a jersey wall along the westbound lanes.

Authorities believe that speed and failure to wear a seatbelt may have contributed to the crash, although the investigation remains ongoing.

Henrico Police are urging anyone with further information to contact Investigator T. Holmes of the Henrico Police Crash Team at (804) 501-5000.

The loss of Robinson has left the local community in mourning, as loved ones and residents remember her.
