Richmond Man Arrested in Connection with Fatal Shooting of 20-Year-Old Woman

RICHMOND, Va. — A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old woman that occurred in mid-February. Richmond Police have charged Damarcus Branch with murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony following the deadly incident on Jennie Scher Road.

According to police reports, officers responded to a call on February 17 at 10:45 p.m. regarding a shooting in the 1300 block of Jennie Scher Road. Upon arriving at the scene, authorities discovered Jaelyn Barham-Wooden, 20, inside an apartment with multiple gunshot wounds. She was rushed to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The investigation quickly led to the arrest of Branch, who has been detained in connection with the crime. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and investigators are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
