Bismarck, North Dakota – A North Dakota woman has been sentenced to five years in jail for allegedly letting an infant under her care starve to death two years ago.
As part of a deal with the prosecution, Paige Howling Wolf, 27, of Parshall, entered a guilty plea in December on charges of involuntary manslaughter as well as three counts of child negligence.
In June of 2020, authorities and medical workers came to a house in Parshall after receiving a report of a baby who was unresponsive.
The United States Attorney’s Office said that an autopsy done on the child showed that they had been malnourished for a long time.
According to the authorities, four other children were removed from Howling Wolf, and three of them tested positive for methamphetamine in their systems.
