Two Displaced After Porch Fire Spreads to Chesterfield County Home

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — Two Chesterfield County residents were displaced Tuesday night after a fire that began on their back porch spread into the attic of their home.

Chesterfield County Fire and EMS crews responded to the 3300 block of New Found Lane shortly after 9 p.m. on April 22, following reports of a house fire. When firefighters arrived on scene, they discovered that flames originating on the back porch had extended into the structure’s attic.

Firefighters worked quickly to contain the blaze, bringing it under control in approximately 40 minutes, according to fire officials. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Due to the extent of the damage, the two occupants of the home have been displaced. The American Red Cross is currently assisting the residents with temporary shelter and other immediate needs.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by local authorities.
