The widening of a portion of Gilley Avenue in the Big Stone Gap area is gearing up and will create the need for a temporary detour from January 15 through mid-April

Richmond, VA – According to the state officials, Gilley Avenue will reportedly be closed between Ridgepoint Place and Country Inn Motel & RV Park.

The temporary closure is anticipated to minimize traffic delays through downtown Big Stone Gap.

Motorists will access downtown Big Stone Gap from Route 23 at East Stone Gap using Route 610 westbound.

Motorists should pay close attention to signs and message boards warning motorists of the closure.

The $2.2 million Gilley Avenue project was recently awarded to Estes Brothers Construction, Inc., Jonesville, Va.

The project is anticipated to wrap up in June.
