The Virginia Department of Transportation will hold an in-person design public hearing on Thursday, March 28, to share information and receive feedback on the proposed design plans to improve safety by extending the westbound right travel lane on Route 171 at Kiln Creek Parkway

Richmond, VA – According to the state officials, the purpose of this project is to create a fourth full-length westbound travel lane on Route 171 by connecting the existing acceleration lane from the Walmart Supercenter with the right-turn lane at Kiln Creek Parkway.

Creating this additional westbound lane is designed to improve the weave area for motorists on Route 171 destined for Kiln Creek Parkway and Interstate 64 and to reduce both angle and rear-end crashes that have occurred in this area due to maneuvering conflicts.

The purpose of the meeting is to give the public an opportunity to review various project exhibits on display, meet with VDOT representatives, and provide input.

The meeting will be an open-house format meeting with no formal presentation given.

Media are invited to attend.
