The Virginia Department of Transportation is proposing improvements to the Interstate 66 Exit 28 interchange with U.S. 17 south of Marshall in Fauquier County

Richmond, VA – According to the VDOT officials, the project will be the subject of a citizen information meeting on Feb. 20 where the public will have the opportunity to view project plans, speak with members of the project team and provide comments.

The citizen information meeting will be held at the Marshall Community Center, 4133-A Rectortown Road, Marshall, VA 20115, from 4-6 p.m.

All comments received at the public meeting and during the 10-day comment period will be reviewed by the project team.

The Interstate 66 westbound ramps at U.S. 17 will be reconstructed as a roundabout and the Interstate 66 eastbound ramps at U.S. 17 will be reconfigured as a restricted crossing U-turn intersection.

The project will eliminate crossovers at on- and off-ramps and will lengthen the ramps.

The $17.7 million project was funded in the fourth round of SMART SCALE project development in fiscal year 2022.

It is expected to advance to a design public hearing in the spring of 2025, followed by advertisement for construction in the fall of 2027.
