Richmond, VA – According to the state officials, the hearing is scheduled for Monday, June 17, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will take place at the Roanoke County Administration Center, Third Floor Training Room, located at 5204 Bernard Drive in Roanoke.
VDOT representatives will be available during the hearing, which will adopt an “open-house” format, to address any inquiries from the public.
The project entails several improvements, including the construction of a third lane in both directions of Route 419, the installation of new sidewalks and pedestrian accommodations, and the designation/modification of bike lanes.
Furthermore, the intersections of Route 419 with Starkey Road and Ridge Top Road will undergo reconfiguration aimed at enhancing traffic flow along Route 419.
The Starkey Road intersection will see modifications featuring a thru-cut concept and signal phase reductions. Under this proposal, through traffic on Starkey Road will be directed to turn left or right at the signal and to access businesses directly or utilize a nearby crossover for a U-turn.
Similarly, the Ridge Top Road intersection will be converted into a restricted crossing U-turn (RCUT). This alteration will require motorists on Ridge Top Road who typically turn left onto Route 419 to instead make right turns and proceed to execute a U-turn.
