The Richmond Police Department issued warning after fraud by scammers posing as police officers

Richmond, VA – According to the police officials, scammers are contacting individuals using the name of an RPD sergeant to demand money through cash apps to resolve outstanding warrants.

These are attempts to swindle and police officials say that you shouldn’t send money in response to these scams.

The Richmond Police Department does not call individuals to collect fees, fines, or payments for outstanding warrants.

If you believe you have a warrant on file you can go to RPD Headquarters (200 W. Grace St.) or any RPD police precinct to inquire.
