Fargo, North Dakota – A public special election scheduled for December 5 to fund the Fargodome’s $140 million expansion and restoration was unanimously approved by the Fargo City Commission.
On the single-question ballot, there will be one question for the election. The proposed revisions will require a 3% rise in the city lodging tax and a quarter-cent increase in the local sales tax, which the city’s taxpayers will vote on whether to support.
Only paper ballots, according to City Auditor Steve Sprague, will be used. All ballots will be manually counted.
There will be three polling places: the Fargo Civic Center, the Ramada Inn, and the Fargodome.
Absentee ballots will be available, however, early voting will not be permitted.
The taxes would be in place for 20 years if the election receives the necessary 60% of the vote to pass.
