The Department of Public Works recently commenced construction on Phase II of the CVT Canal Walk Improvement Project

Richmond, VA – According to the city officials, the construction, focused on the south side of the canal near the pedestrian bridge at the intersection of 15th and Dock streets, aims to enhance pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure along the Canal Walk.

The project includes several key improvements:

– Installation of ramp extensions
– Construction of retaining walls to support the embankment along the ramp
– Landscaping and hardscape additions consistent with the existing Canal Walk
– Creation of a shared-use path
– Installation of granite curbs, grading, and erosion and sediment control measures

Barring weather delays, the project is expected to be completed by late spring 2025.
