Riverdale, North Dakota – The teen driver who died in an accident on Monday has been identified by authorities.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the Riverdale resident, Brandon Krehlik, was driving a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix east on the dam crossing at about 4:40 p.m. when he moved into the westbound lane while passing another vehicle.
Patrol say he lost control of his vehicle and began spinning into the scenic overlook parking area on the crossing. A westbound 2010 Lincoln MKS sedan driven by Brandon Bartsch, 32, of Coleharbor, attempted to avoid the Pontiac but collided with its side in the parking lot. Both cars came to rest in the parking lot.
Krehlik died at the scene after being ejected from his car. Bartsch was taken to Sanford Health in Bismarck with injuries.
None of the drivers was wearing a seat belt.
