Shooting at Crozet Harris Teeter Leaves Two Dead and One Injured

Crozet, Va. — A deadly shooting at the Harris Teeter grocery store in Crozet, Virginia, has left two victims dead and one critically injured. Authorities are continuing to investigate the tragic incident that unfolded on Monday afternoon.

At approximately 1:35 p.m. on February 17, Albemarle County police responded to reports of a shooting at the Harris Teeter located at 545 Radford Lane. Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers discovered three individuals with gunshot wounds. Tragically, two of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while a third was transported to UVA Medical Center in critical condition.

The identities of the deceased have not been released pending notification of next of kin. Authorities have yet to disclose further details about the victims or the shooter.

According to the Albemarle County Police Department, investigators believe the shooting began in the parking lot of the store. The suspect reportedly fired at two individuals before the situation escalated. A good Samaritan, who was leaving the store, intervened by making contact with the shooter using their own personal weapon. The good Samaritan was unharmed in the exchange.

Two firearms were recovered from the scene, including one rifle. Police have assured the public that there is no further threat to the community at this time. However, local authorities are advising residents to avoid the area as the investigation continues.

The relationship between the shooter and the victims remains unclear. Virginia State Police have joined the investigation to assist with the ongoing inquiry.

As the community grapples with this senseless violence, authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to help in solving the case.
