Richmond Police Investigate Deadly Shooting on Hull Street Road

Richmond, VA — Authorities have identified the victim in a fatal shooting that occurred Sunday evening in the 5700 block of Hull Street Road as 38-year-old James Owens, a Chesterfield County resident.

The Richmond Police Department responded to the area around 5:36 p.m. on December 15, following reports of a robbery that was later upgraded to a shooting. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Owens inside a local business, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators have not yet released details regarding the circumstances of the shooting, and it remains unclear if Owens was the intended target or if the incident was part of a larger criminal event.
