RICHMOND, Va. – The City of Richmond has announced that its Inclement Weather Shelter will remain open continuously throughout the week in response to the forecasted drop in temperatures. The shelter, managed by the Salvation Army, will extend its hours and stay operational until 12 p.m. on Friday, January 24, ensuring that those in need of shelter will not experience any disruption of services.
In addition to the Salvation Army shelter, the city has partnered with Daily Planet Health Services to open an Inclement Weather Overflow Shelter. This shelter, located at 900 E. Marshall Street, began operating on Sunday, January 19, at 8 a.m. and will also remain open continuously until Friday, January 24, at 12 p.m.
These efforts are part of the city’s response to severe winter weather conditions, aiming to provide safe refuge for those experiencing homelessness during dangerously cold temperatures.
