Richmond Man Dies Following Southside Shooting, Investigation Underway

Richmond, Va. — A 39-year-old Richmond man has died after a shooting in the city’s Southside on Tuesday evening. The incident occurred shortly before midnight on February 25, prompting a swift response from the Richmond Police Department.

At 11:54 p.m., officers were called to the 1700 block of Southlawn Avenue after receiving reports of a person shot. Upon arrival, police found Clayton Wyatt, a 39-year-old Richmond resident, suffering from a gunshot wound. Wyatt was immediately transported to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

The cause and manner of Wyatt’s death will be determined by the Medical Examiner’s Office. The Richmond Police Department has classified his death as a homicide, and an active investigation is underway.
