HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — A Richmond man has died in the hospital days after being struck by a vehicle in Henrico County.
On Thursday, February 20, at approximately 8:40 p.m., Henrico County Police responded to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian in the 6300 block of Monument Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found 43-year-old Shawn Quentin Ford, of Richmond, lying in the roadway. Police said Ford had been walking in the westbound right lane when he was hit by a Chevrolet Equinox.
First responders from the Henrico County Division of Fire quickly transported Ford to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite medical efforts, Ford succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, February 25, five days after the crash.
The driver of the Chevrolet Equinox remained at the scene following the incident and is fully cooperating with investigators. According to police, speed, drugs, and alcohol do not appear to have played a role in the crash, though the investigation is ongoing.
