Richmond, Va. — The Richmond Health Equity Fund has announced a significant investment of more than $519,000 into nine new community partners aimed at improving health outcomes and addressing disparities in the city. The announcement, made by city officials on Tuesday, highlights the fund’s continued commitment to filling gaps in funding and resources for local organizations working to improve the well-being of Richmond residents.
Among the newly funded organizations is ChildSavers, a local nonprofit that provides mental health services to children and families. CEO Robert Bolling explained that the grant would support the organization’s immediate response team, which operates a 24/7 crisis hotline. The team is able to deploy therapists to the scene of traumatic events, offering short-term therapy to those affected, particularly children and families experiencing trauma.
Other new partners announced as recipients of funding include organizations focused on a wide range of critical health issues, from food security to mental health and substance use recovery. The funded organizations and their areas of focus are as follows:
- Access to Healthcare and Education Resources: Hitting Cancer Below the Belt
- **Sacred Heart Center
- Chronic Disease and Underlying Health Conditions: We Off the Couch
- Food Access and Security: Mutual Aid Disaster Relief Richmond, RVA Community Fridges
- Maternal and Child Health: Family Lifeline
- Mental and Behavioral Health: ChildSavers, Women Can Inspire Foundation
- Substance Use Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery: Atlantic Outreach Group
These partnerships are designed to address a variety of health-related needs across Richmond, with an emphasis on providing equitable access to resources and services for underserved communities. The Richmond Health Equity Fund aims to promote better health outcomes for all city residents by supporting organizations that are directly engaged with the community.
Additionally, the Richmond Health Equity Fund has opened applications for its 2025 funding cycle. Interested organizations have until March 30 to submit their applications for consideration. More information, including the application form, can be found on the fund’s website at RHPHF.com.
Through these efforts, the Richmond Health Equity Fund continues its mission to improve health outcomes, promote equity, and support the city’s most vulnerable populations.
