Minot, North Dakota – The day of national aviation is August 19.
A replica of the aircraft that Orville and Wilbur Wright first flew 120 years ago is on display at the Dakota Air Museum in Minot.
It flew six feet in the air at a speed of twenty miles per hour, according to museum director Jenna Grindberg. She remarked that technology had advanced amazingly.
“Most people don’t think about how aviation affects our daily lives. I mean, you look up and you’re going to see an airplane at any given time. There’s thousands of aircraft in the air,” said Grindberg.
She claimed that the oldest aircraft at their site still capable of flight is a 1929 model.
