Power Outage Affects Over 200 Petersburg Homes and Businesses Following Wednesday Night Crash

PETERSBURG, Va. — More than 200 homes and businesses in Petersburg were left without power Wednesday night after a crash in the area of Perry Street.

According to the Petersburg Bureau of Police, the incident occurred at approximately 9:21 p.m. on June 4. The crash resulted in a power outage impacting the surrounding neighborhood.

Dominion Energy crews responded promptly and were on site working to restore electricity. As of 10:30 p.m., 225 customers remained without power, according to the utility company’s outage map.

The crash also caused multiple road closures, including:

  • Perry Street and Farmer Street

  • Guarantee Street and Brown Street

  • Farmer Street and Pine Street

Authorities advised residents and motorists to observe posted road signs and use alternate routes to avoid the affected areas.

Dominion Energy estimated that power restoration would take place between midnight and 3 a.m. on Thursday, June 5.
