PETERSBURG, Va. — On Saturday morning, police arrested a local man on charges of possessing a concealed weapon and reckless driving during a traffic stop.
Justin Isiah Alexander, a Petersburg resident, was taken into custody at approximately 9:50 a.m. when officers discovered he was carrying a concealed firearm. Authorities say the arrest occurred as part of a routine traffic stop.
Alexander faces charges for possession of a concealed weapon and reckless driving. He was held in custody pending a court appearance.
The arrest is one of several actions under the Petersburg Police Department’s ongoing “Operation Safe Streets,” a community safety initiative aimed at reducing crime and removing illegally possessed firearms from the streets. According to a department statement, the operation also targets individuals with outstanding warrants and those committing offenses in the city.
