Petersburg Police Arrest 18-Year-Old in Christmas Eve Burglary

Petersburg, VA – An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a burglary that occurred on Christmas Eve at a business on South Sycamore Street.

According to the Petersburg Bureau of Police, officers responded to the 900 block of South Sycamore Street at approximately 1:30 a.m. on December 24 following reports of a suspicious incident. Upon arrival, police observed a person fleeing the area and quickly discovered that a nearby business had been burglarized.

The suspect, later identified as Devon Jones, was located by officers not far from the scene. Police said Jones was found in possession of items that had been stolen from the business.

Jones was arrested and charged with grand larceny, eluding police, burglary, and conspiring to commit a felony. The investigation into the burglary is ongoing, and police have not released further details at this time.

This arrest comes as part of the Petersburg Police Department’s continued efforts to combat crime in the area during the holiday season. Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward.
