North Dakota’s gas prices may have risen more than a cent in the month of August, but average prices statewide remain below the national average.
According to AAA North Dakota’s Eugene LaDouceur, today’s statewide average is $2.11 per gallon, while the national average is $2.23 per gallon. Compared to a year ago, North Dakotans paid $2.57 per gallon, while the national average was $2.58 per gallon.
The average price paid for a gallon of regular gas in North Dakota was $2.10. Last year, the monthly average was $2.63. The August average was last below $2.10 in 2004, when the average was $1.93.
Demand for gasoline continues to increase, but remains below the level last year. Gas supply remains well above average for the time of year.
AAA North Dakota says the trend for prices looks to decrease, as the summer season comes to an end.
