NDSU Soccer Adds Graduate Transfer Payton Armijo From CSUN

FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State University women’s soccer head coach Mike Regan announced Wednesday, March 17, the addition of graduate transfer Payton Armijo to the team. Armijo, a midfielder, joins the Bison for the Fall 2021 season after playing at Cal State Northridge.

Armijo competed during the 2017 and 2018 seasons for the Matadors, while she redshirted in 2016 and missed the 2019 season with an injury. Armijo appeared in 20 matches in 2017, while dishing out an assist. During the 2018 season, she appeared in 14 matches with a career-high 13 starts. She scored her first career goal against UNLV, while assisting on a pair of others. Armijo was a two-time Big West All-Academic Team selection.

A native of Bakersfield, Calif., Armijo scored 86 goals, while assisting on 36 more, during her high school career at Highland High School. She scored 24 goals during her senior season after scoring 28 as a junior. She played club soccer with South Valley Soccer Club.
