NDDEQ launches second round of North Dakota Stewards Initiative

The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality (NDDEQ) is pleased to announce the second round of its North Dakota Stewards Initiative.

This year, the 50th anniversary year of Earth Day, the NDDEQ is focusing on waste reduction. “We can all reduce the amount of waste we produce,” said initiative coordinator Angela Seligman. “We show pride in our environment when focusing on waste reduction, and by working together, we can make a difference.”

September 1 through September 15, the NDDEQ is again encouraging residents to log activities that reduce waste and save energy.  Participants can download a daily log to help track environmental savings throughout the contest period. At the end of the contest, participants transfer those savings to the North Dakota Stewards webpage. The NDDEQ will then calculate the total savings and announce the results of North Dakota’s eco-conscious stewards. The top three North Dakota participants who have saved the most will receive awards provided by Keep North Dakota Clean, Inc.

This is open to all state citizens. Participants can also receive a North Dakota Steward certificate by partaking in a variety of eco-friendly activities. To get involved in the North Dakota Stewards Initiative, visit https://deq.nd.gov/NDStewards/.
