Man Shot and Killed in Richmond’s Gilpin Court Neighborhood

RICHMOND, Va. — A man was fatally shot on Monday, January 27, in Richmond’s Gilpin Court neighborhood. The shooting occurred just after 5 p.m. in the 1000 block of St. James Street.

Upon responding to the scene, Richmond Police Officers discovered the victim had sustained a gunshot wound to the head. Despite efforts to assist, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Richmond Police Department’s Major Crimes Division is actively investigating the incident, which remains under scrutiny. Authorities are asking for any individuals with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.

This marks another tragic loss of life in the city, and residents are urged to cooperate with law enforcement to help bring those responsible to justice.
