Man Facing 10 Charges After Crime Spree in Richmond, B.C.

Richmond, VA  – A Metro Vancouver man is facing multiple charges after a five-day crime spree in Richmond, B.C., last month. Reman Marcos Abayon, 27, has been charged with nine counts of breaking and entering and one count of mischief following a series of break-ins at apartment buildings in Richmond’s city centre between November 8 and November 12, 2023.

Abayon, who was identified as a suspect after a detailed investigation, was arrested and formally charged earlier this month. The Richmond RCMP launched the investigation in response to a spike in burglaries, which primarily targeted residential buildings in the area.

As the investigation unfolded, Mounties issued a public warning to residents, urging them to take extra precautions with the approaching winter holiday season. Police reminded residents to secure their homes before leaving for vacations, advising them not to share travel plans on social media. Additionally, officers suggested a number of measures to make properties appear occupied, such as arranging for someone to shovel snow, maintain the lawn, collect mail, and park vehicles in driveways.

The crime spree has raised concerns about safety in the community, with authorities continuing to urge residents to remain vigilant. The case is expected to proceed through the courts in the coming months.
