Man Dies After Shooting on I-64 East in Henrico County

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. – A man is dead after a shooting incident on Interstate 64 East in Henrico County late Thursday evening.

At approximately 8:30 p.m. on February 20, Virginia State Police (VSP) responded to a report of a person shot on I-64 eastbound near the Mechanicsville Turnpike. Upon arrival, officers from the Henrico County Police Division discovered a car that had crashed off the right side of the highway.

When law enforcement approached the vehicle, they found the driver, an unidentified male, had been shot. The victim was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The highway was temporarily shut down in the area as VSP and local authorities began their investigation. The road remained closed for an extended period of time as officials worked at the scene.

As of now, no further details regarding the incident have been released, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities have not yet identified a suspect or provided additional information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
