RICHMOND, Va. — A 22-year-old woman was found shot dead inside a Richmond apartment on Saturday morning, leading to the arrest of her father.
At approximately 10 a.m. on May 31, officers from the Richmond Police Department responded to a report of an armed party at an apartment located in the 700 block of South Harrison Street. Upon arrival, they discovered Alicia Ellis of Richmond suffering from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her father, 55-year-old Alonzo Ellis, was taken into custody in connection with the incident. Authorities charged him with shooting within an occupied dwelling and child neglect. Additional charges are reportedly pending as the investigation continues.
The Richmond Police Department has not released further details at this time and continues to investigate the homicide.
