Major disaster declaration approved for North Dakota to recover from severe storms

North Dakota – President Joe Biden signed a major disaster declaration for North Dakota on Wednesday, allowing the federal government to help the state recover from devastating storms and flooding in June.

The funding has been made available to North Dakota by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to supplement state, tribal, and local recovery efforts.

For emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities destroyed in Burke, Divide, Emmons, Grant, Kidder, LaMoure, Sioux, and Williams counties, federal assistance is also available on a cost-sharing basis to state, tribal, eligible local governments, as well as some private nonprofit organizations.

The Federal Coordinating Officer for recovery operations in the impacted areas will be Lance Davis.
