Leaking anhydrous ammonia tanker prompts shelter-in-place warning in Colfax, N.D.

Richland County, North Dakota – An anhydrous ammonia chemical spill on Tuesday night prompted Colfax, North Dakota to issue a brief shelter-in-place order.

The leak was discovered just before ten o’clock at night, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Office, on County Road 4, one mile west of Colfax.

When a representative of the tank’s owner, Minn-Kota Ag Products, arrived on the scene, they observed that the huge bulk tank’s valve was the source of the anhydrous leak.
